Leon Day is June 25 and WaKeeney is celebrating

Think Community Block Party with Santa !

The Christmas City of The High Plains is going to celebrate Christmas June 25.  Instead of Snow, we have sunshine ! Instead of celebrating downtown, we're celebrating uptown at the City Park !  Santa is coming, but instead of him bring YOU goodies, you will bring gifts TO SANTA and those gifts will be donated to the local food pantry.

Bring your lawnchairs!

Bring a picnic or a pizza, or purchase supper from one of the food vendors.  The Local Food Truck (John & Cathy Hafliger) will be there and so will Trego Sky View with Frito Pies and Walking Dessert.   There will be a few outdoor games available, in cooperation with Trego Chamber of Commerce  or feel free to bring your own.  Grab your friends and neighbors and we'll all meet at The Park at 6:00pm.  There will be a pickle hunt, like an old german tradition to find the pickle Christmas ornament hanging on the Christmas tree.   There will be Prizes for Pickles    One Pickle Prize Per Person Please    Santa will arrive at 6:30pm    Remember to bring him a gift that he can re-gift to the local food pantry.

This event is brought to you by WaKeeney Tourism, Spreading Christmas Cheer All Through The Year

LEON DAY is also our kick off to begin celebrating The Christmas City of The High Plains with our famous tree every Saturday after Thanksgiving for over 75 years with our Annual Tree Lighting Festival.    We will all celebrate Christmas again in July  with Hay Bales & Sleigh Bells at The Trego County Fair!   July 9-13   That will be fun!
