Many businesses throughout WaKeeney will be open with Black Friday deals and steals! This is event is hosted by Trego County Chamber of Commerce, Trego County Economic Development, WaKeeney Main Street and Malay's Market. Look for your postcard in the mailbox. If you're visiting us from out of town, follow the crowd !
Saturday morning things kick off at 9am at The 25th Annual Christmas Bazaar
The Trego County Home Business Association assembles the most incredible vendors for this event. They come from far and wide with a large variety of items to help you fill your Christmas gift list! With over 60 Vendors, 3 buildings and food trucks too! The Christmas Bazaar is open until 4pm.
The Trego County Historical Society Museum
Opens at 10am and offers a fun Christmas themed scavenger hunt among the displays. Enjoy the ABC's of The Christmas City and learn our history and story while perusing the exhibits of Christmas, Military, Farming, Fossils and More The Museum is open until 4pm
The WaKeeney Public Library can't be missed.
They will open at 9:30am and along with lots of holiday books to read, they will have CRAFTS for the kids to create and then at 2pm a special concert with Jammin' Randy to delight all ages! This is such a fun event for all who attend!
Fast Passes for Santa 4pm Brooke Kuntz Accounting
If you don't want to stand in line for an hour to see Santa, pick up a fast pass from Miss Brooke at 521 Russell Ave at 4pm. You do not need a pass to see Santa, Santa makes time for everyone. This simply allows you to enjoy the other downtown festivites while waiting for your time slot. If you do not get a pass, there will be a seperate line and you will be allowed in between time slotted groups.
Soups on and it's time to have Supper!
There will be several choice to fill your stomachs. From 4:30 - 7:00pm you can enjoy homemade shoup and desserts at the VFW Hall. This annual Auxiliary fund raising event brings warm memories and green bean dumpling soup. Table 529 and Western KS Saloon will also be open if you're looking for something a little heartier downtown, but you may also want to visit Gordo's Tacos for a great street taco experience!
Santa's Downtown Workshop
From 4:30pm - 8:30pm Enjoy horse & wagon rides, live reindeer, train rides and treats and goodies for the kids! From free mittens to free hot chocolates, ciders and cookies. There will be a lot to enjoy ! Including hunting for 17 brass ornaments through out the area. The businesses listed on this photo will each have an ornament to be claimed.
Classic Cars if the weather permits! We've been Celebrating Christmas since 1950!
We are hoping that the weather will permit Car enthusiasts to add to our nostalgia by bringing some cars of the 1940's and 50's era. Special parking will be provided for these classics along Main Street in front of the Court House. Enter by way of Warren Avenue and you will be given special parking.
Take a step back into your childhood....
We will also have special Christmas music wafting through the night to take us back to 1950 where it all began. You may even find a group of roaming carolers spreading the holiday joy!
SANTA is coming to light the giant tree !
Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive to light the giant tree and then head down to WaKeeney's North Pole to greet all the children one by one with something fun for everyone!
