I’ll be honest, I had low expectations for the campground. We needed a stopover to break up what would have been a 14 hour drive from Saint Louis to Estes. It didn’t look like much from the site or the overhead Google shots. I was nervous, with it being right next to the highway. Folks, let me tell you, I was blown away. The moment we stepped in the store to register upon arrival, the greeting was so warm and sweet. A young man drove a golf cart to show us our site, and asked if we needed help setting up. They kindly loaned us a channel lock wrench when we needed one. The pool looks small from photos, but it was more than sufficient. Moreover, it was clean, well maintained, with really comfortable lounge chairs. It didn’t close until 10, so we were able to swim under the stars, with cute cafe lights strung around. The highway is right there, but honestly, you can’t hardly hear it. It didn’t factor at all into our night. The sites are level, mowed, and flat. We weren’t tent camping, but I loved the little touches, like fence windbreaks between the tent sites! The bathroom and shower are clean, bright and in great condition. I can’t say enough, this place was a happy surprise.
