76th Annual Tree Lighting
Downtown WaKeeney
It's the most magical day in NW Kansas and you will want to be a part of the Christmas Magic!
It will all begin at 9am in our Annual Christmas Bazaar (9am - 3pm) held at the Trego County Fair Grounds on 13th Street with over 60 vendors. Then you can travel on to the Trego County Historical Museum for a special Christmas Business Bingo (10am - 4pm). You can also create a DIY Christmas ornament craft at the WaKeeney Public Library ( 9:30am - 1:30pm).
Horse & wagon rides, Live reindeer and other magical suprises will begin downtown (4pm - 8pm). You may even spot the Grinch sneaking around.
Knowing that everyone wants to see Santa but not stand in a long line, we offer Fast Passes to be handed out at 4pm at Santa's house at the North Pole. Fast passes give you a designated time so you may be in line for 5-10 minutes rather than 30-45minutes. Fast passes are not required to see Santa, if you do not have a Fast Pass - have no fear - you will still get a chance to visit with Santa after he arrives at 6pm, you may just have to stand in line for a bit, or wait until 8:30pm.
Nothing warms the soul like hot homemade soup ! So trek over to the VFW Hall for their annual soup supper between 4:30pm - 7pm.
We will all gather around the downtown square at 5:45pm to sing carols to welcome Santa to the center of town. We expect Mr. & Mrs. Claus around that time to light our magnificent 35ft live greenery tree with all it's lights! After Santa lights the tree he will make his way to th Norh Pole to greet each child individually. If your child wants to write Santa a letter, they can put it in his mail box outside his house at WaKeeney's North Pole and it will be answered by the big man himself, be sure to provide a return address !
Come make wonderful memories with us !
